Freeplay Energy is pleased to announce that it has entered into a World-wide Long Term Agreement (LTA) with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Supply Division for the supply of Freeplay’s Lifeline self-sufficient radios. The Freeplay Lifeline is a high quality FM/AM/SW radio receiver powered by a hand-crank or a detachable solar panel. The Lifeline, radio conceived by the Freeplay Foundation and designed and manufactured by Freeplay Energy Plc, is the first radio ever to be specifically designed and engineered for the humanitarian sector. Following significant testing and benchmarking against other similar products, UNICEF has concluded that Freeplay’s products meet its high standards for quality and value. “We are pleased that UNICEF has decided to present us with this LTA. It validates our belief that in the self-powered energy market, a market that Freeplay created, we are clearly the leader.” says Rory Stear, Freeplay Energy’s Executive Chairman.

UNICEF’s Supply Division is responsible for overseeing UNICEF’s global procurement and logistics. The Division provides essential supplies for shelter, health and nutrition, education and recreation, drinking water and sanitation. In 2004, UNICEF procured $60 million worth of supplies for emergencies around the world. The LTA between Freeplay and UNICEF, valid for three years, will streamline the procurement process and allow Lifelines to reach intended recipients quickly and efficiently especially during emergency operations.
