Press Release - Quixote Group:

About the Freeplay™ Devo Digital Audio Broadcasting Self-Sufficient Radio
With superior sound quality and more choice on the "free" radio broadcasting airwaves, North American interest in DAB radio is on the rise. Because of this, Freeplayô Energy, the world's leader in self-sufficient energy, recently launched a self-sufficient DAB digital radio in Europe, the Devo, and is developing a version for Canada and the U.S. The Canadian version of the DAB radio is slated for availability in fall 2006.

Not only does the Devo offer the better reception and clarity of sound that digital radio provides, but it also is powered by the latest in Freepla'ís self-sufficient wind-up technology and AC/DC rechargeability, which eliminates the need for replacement batteries. Because it offers freedom from batteries, the Devo is truly portable (approximately 5" by 8").

Devo special features:
  • Wide variety of DAB stations
  • Five memory presets
  • Digital information display
  • Stereo RCA output sockets
  • Headphone socket for personal listening
  • Rugged construction
  • Unbreakable winder handle
  • Rechargeable battery pack that never needs replacement
  • High performance speaker
  • FM radio tuning
Important Questions about Devo
Q. How long should the Devo play?
A. With a fully charged battery, the Devo will provide six hours of DAB listening time and 36 hours of FM listening time per full charge. A 60-second wind will provide about one hour of FM playtime and 3-5 minutes of DAB playtime (normal volume).

Q. Does the battery require a conditioning charge before the first use?
A. For best results, the radio's internal battery requires a conditioning charge before first use or after long periods without use.

Q. How long does it take to fully charge the Devo?
A. It will take approximately 20 hours to fully charge the internal battery using an AC/DC adapter.
