Freeplay and Coleman debut new self sufficient radio and flashlight at CES 2002
BOOTH #277, LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER 2002 INTERNATIONAL CES FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LAS VEGAS, January 8, 2002 - Freeing consumers from electrical restraints and helping them enjoy leisure life to the fullest, Freeplay Energy Group and The Coleman Company, Inc. today introduced a new flashlight and radio powered by Freeplay's self-sufficient energy technology. Beginning in the first half of this year, both products will be widely distributed in the United States as part of the Coleman line of outdoor gear, available through sporting goods and general retailers. Designed for maximum user flexibility even under extreme conditions, the lightweight Sentinel flashlight and Outrider radio offer a choice of rechargeable battery or wind-up power. Each unit features a built-in hand crank for use when electrical outlets are unavailable or in case of emergency.

"Our Freeplay powered flashlight and radio from Coleman are designed for use anywhere, at anytime so users get the most out of life," said Rory Stear, chairman and CEO of Freeplay Energy Group. "This technical versatility, combined with Coleman's world-class marketing and distribution experience, provides consumers with dependable products from a trusted brand." "Sentinel and Outrider are perfect for home owners, campers or travelers whose independent, active lifestyles demand high quality and self-reliant products. Whether you are camping, hiking, backpacking in the mountains or waiting out a severe storm at home, these products are invaluable," said Steve Cramer, product manager, Coleman. "We believe the addition of Freeplay-powered technology to our line will give Coleman customers self-sufficiency in any situation in the great outdoors."

About the Coleman Sentinel Flashlight
Weighing in at only 12 ounces, Sentinel flashlight incorporates the fail-safe Freeplay self-sufficient technology for both everyday and emergency use. When fully charged, the flashlight provides 30 minutes of ultra bright light and five hours of regular light. The wind-up system offers approximately eight minutes of light on normal beam for each 30-second hand cranking session. Sentinel is the only Coleman light that offers an alternative self-sufficient power source and is available in gray or blue.

About the Coleman Outrider Radio
With its compact and stylish green ergonomic design, the Outrider AM/FM radio weighs just under two pounds and will operate for 25 hours when fully charged, providing continuous access to news and music. On average, 30-seconds of winding will provide approximately 35 minutes of playtime at normal volume. An extendable antenna ensures optimal reception and an LED charge level indicator designates the best speed to wind. In addition, the radio may be charged by solar power in direct sunlight through a solar panel atop the unit. The suggested retail price of the Sentinel flashlight is $39 while the Outrider radio is $49.
