Freeplay Energy group appoints Tango
Freeplay Energy Group has appointed Tango Group Ltd as the exclusive importer and distributor of Freeplay radio and flashlight products for the UK and Eire from 1 January 2004.

Tango, led by former director of Eastern Hemisphere of Freeplay Energy Group, Vivian Blick, will also take responsibility for the sales and marketing of Freeplay's products, which has been managed by Burton McCall since 2001.

Rory Stear, founder and CEO, explains that the company is now ready to bring a dedicated focus to its self-sufficient products and believes that moving the sales and marketing to Tango is a natural move: 'Whilst very happy with the service provided by Burton McCall, Vivian has a wealth of expertise in this sector and a clear vision for the future of self-sufficient technology, and we're delighted to give him this opportunity. He has proven entrepreneurial skills which will be put to good use in creating initiatives and, I have no doubt, will build the potential of the category for retailers.'

In 2001, Freeplay Energy Group restructured and announced its intention to focus on core competencies as a business-to-business technology company and the development of its self-sufficient technology as an ingredient brand. The appointment of a UK distributor enabled the company to achieve this and the appointment of Tango is simply the next stage in this strategy.

Freeplay Energy Group will continue to develop new products and adapt the technology to existing devices to enable established brands to extend their product ranges and to improve competitiveness. Current projects are looking at medical equipment and boat power.

Doing the Tango ...

Tango has an inherent knowledge of Freeplay's self-sufficient technology, the needs of independents and the multiples, and brings the experience, service and expertise necessary for the sector.

In addition, Blick has already committed to increased investment for sales promotion activity with dramatic Point of Sale materials in production for the beginning of 2004, and a solid marketing communications strategy to support Freeplay's products throughout 2004. As he explains: 'We've got fantastic products but in today's competitive market that's not enough. So, Tango has committed to exceptional customer service - we will deliver products to the trade by the next day, when orders are placed by 2pm. We have a full marcomms plan in place to drive consumers in-store and creative POS to aid purchasing decisions. We're very happy to explain how the technology works and provide key selling points to help retailers convert sales.

'With increasing concern regarding the environment and power shortages, self-sufficient technology is here to stay and we're committed to making sure that its not only functional but also, funky, stylish and consumers don't just need it, but they want it too!'

All order placed after 22 December 2003 should be directed to Tango Group Ltd, for delivery in the New Year. Tango Group is committed to next day deliveries for all UK mainland Freeplay product orders placed before 2pm.
