2002-07-17The Motorola FreeCharge lets you talk, talk, talk, talk, talk ...
Just when you need it most, your mobile phone dies. You are in the middle of an important call - and whether it's business or gossip - that last sentence was the whole point of the conversation! Now, those clever people at Motorola and Freeplay Energy have designed the perfect solution - a portable energy pack for your mobile phone that gives you the freedom to talk anywhere, at any time and for as long as you need! The Motorola FreeCharge acts as an energy pack, providing the option of two power sources. The first is an internal rechargeable battery which, by charging with the phone's own adaptor, has the capability of holding up to 65% of the phone's battery. Alternatively, the FreeCharge incorporates a unique wind up option ensuring that you have a fail-safe power supply at all times. By simply winding for approximately 45 seconds, users will generate 4-5 minutes of talk time and several hours of standby time. Built for the person on the go, weighing only 330g and designed to fit into the palm of your hand, the Motorola FreeCharge has the potential to revolutionise communications through its portable energy offering, enabling talk time when and where it is needed most. It's perfect to slip into a backpack, briefcase or tackle box and an essential piece of kit for business or leisure travellers, outdoor enthusiasts or those caught in an emergency and desperate to make that call. In addition, the developing world will benefit significantly from the introduction of the Motorola FreeCharge. In areas such as Sub-Saharan Africa, where electricity penetration is less than 20%, the Motorola FreeCharge could be the sole source of power in areas where mobile phone communication has expanded past the electricity grid.
Key Features
A green LED charge light indicates the optimal winding speed and lights up when the Motorola FreeCharge is being powered off the mains. In addition, a power button on the adaptor module indicates whether energy remains in the unit and when pressed, stored energy is released into the mobile phone. The Motorola FreeCharge also comes equipped with a flashlight pod that can be powered off either the internal battery or wind-up mode. Adapter modules that connect the FreeCharge to your mobile phone, are available for over 20 of Motorola's most popular handsets (including T280, V60 V66 V70 T720 208i V60i V66i). Adapter modules for Nokia 5100 and 6100 series handsets will be on the market in November and additional modules for other major mobile brands are in development. The Motorola FreeCharge is highly rugged and has performed every time in rigorous testing. It has been designed to provide independence from batteries and is a failsafe power source wherever you are in the world.
World-wide distribution
Motorola is the exclusive world-wide distributor of the Motorola FreeCharge, which will be widely available at retail locations where other Motorola accessories are sold, such as Carphone Warehouse, in addition to outdoor and speciality retail stores. It is also available online at www.motorola.co.uk for £59.99.
